Evaporadores de Nitrógeno

Nitrogen Evaporators

Organomation manufactures and distributes three product lines of nitrogen evaporators for analytical chemistry sample preparation. Our N-EVAPs, MULTIVAPs, and MICROVAPs have been used for over 50 years in laboratories around the world.

Organomation nitrogen evaporators combine a heated bath with nitrogen blow down for fast and gentle sample concentration.

N-EVAP Product Line

Organomation's N-EVAP nitrogen evaporators are extremely well suited for numerous sample preparation methodologies. We have created a diverse product line with instruments ranging from six to forty-five sample positions. Our nitrogen evaporators utilize adjustable nitrogen blow down technology allowing for full control of nitrogen flow to samples, with no wasted nitrogen gas. We combine this technology with uniform heat applied efficiently through either water or dry baths. This technique saves labs money by simultaneously maximizing solvent evaporation volume and rate.

MULTIVAP Product Line

Organomation's MULTIVAPs are ideal for concentrating large batches of samples, and are used in numerous sample preparation methodologies. The 9, 30, 48, and 80 position units are available in high temperature dry block models, while the 64 and 100 position models utilize our classic water bath to maximize sample evaporation. Nitrogen gas is delivered to each sample via individual stainless steel needles connected to the hand built gas distribution manifold. All of our MULTIVAPs include a built in timer to shut heat and nitrogen gas off for maximum efficiency.

MICROVAP Product Line

Organomation's MICROVAP laboratory evaporators are used in numerous sample preparation methodologies, and are designed for controlled concentration of small samples.

These instruments are light, compact and digitally controlled for ease of use.

The MICROVAPs are offered in four different models, providing versatility for many different sample preparation applications. The single and triple position MICROVAP microplate evaporators condense samples held within 96 well plates, and can accommodate both deep well and micro well plates. The 15 and 24 position MICROVAP laboratory evaporators are intended for small batch solvent evaporations, such as concentrations of sample batches in microcentrifuge tubes.

Solvent Evaporators

One of the largest downsides to traditional organic extraction procedures is the large volumes of solvent that are evaporated with no procedure for collection and proper disposal. The lack of an efficient solvent recovery process can lead to health and environmental hazards as volatile organic solvents are released into the environment. Organomation’s S-EVAP solvent evaporators with solvent collection condense and collect excess solvent into individual or central collection flasks.

The S-EVAP-RB and S-EVAP-KD are each capable of up to 97% solvent recovery.

The S-EVAP-RB and S-EVAP-KD easily evaporate large volumes of solvent out of samples to leave dry or concentrated samples for analysis or further processing.

S-EVAP-KD

Solvent Evaporators for Kuderna Danish (KD) Flasks

The S-EVAP-KD instruments are available in two temperature control options: digital control or mechanical thermostat. There are also several different models to accommodate various flask sizes (250 ml, 500 ml, and 1000 ml).

The S-EVAP KD combines standard KD evaporation procedures with our unique rotary water bath and manifold, increasing sample through put and bench space. The S-EVAP-KD comes in 5, 8, and 10 position models. Organomation’s S-EVAP solvent evaporators have a broad range of applications including oil and grease analysis using Freon and other approved solvents, concentrating extracted materials from Soxhlet operations, and other KD evaporation methods.

At each sample position the KD flask rests on the bath cover disk and the concentrator tube sits partially submerged in the deep water bath below the cover disk. The solvent boils from the flask and through the Snyder column. The solvent vapor then cools in the condenser which is attached to a centrally located water manifold. The glassware is held in place with quick disconnect fittings which allow for easy retrieval of samples. The solvent leaves the condenser through a specially designed side arm into either an individual collection flask or a centrally located solvent collection vessel. Solvent recovery through individual or central collection options reduces laboratory emissions and increases laboratory and environmental safety. The S-EVAP-KD comes standard with Organomation’s reduced height glassware so that the instrument can fit into a standard fume hood.

S-EVAP-RB

Solvent Evaporators for Round Flasks

The S-EVAP-RB instruments are available in two temperature control options: digital control or mechanical thermostat. There are also several different models to accommodate various flask sizes (500 ml, 250 ml, and 125 ml).

The S-EVAP-RB solvent evaporator for round flasks allows for up to 8 or 10 samples to be concentrated at once. S-EVAPs have a broad range of applications including oil and grease analysis using Freon and other approved solvents and concentrating extracted materials from Soxhlet operations. The instrument consists of a base and stand assembly, mounted in a shallow round bath. The entire instrument rotates so that all samples are accessible from the front.

At each sample position the round sample flask rests on the bath cover disk and is heated by hot water and steam. The solvent boils from the flask and cools in the condenser which is attached to a centrally located water manifold. The solvent leaves the condenser through a specially designed side arm into an individual collection flask. Solvent recovery through individual collection reduces laboratory emissions and increases laboratory and environmental safety.

Solvent Extraction Instruments

You are in the lab and need to run multiple extractions at once. First you set the Soxhlet extractors up on individual heating mantles or baths. Next, tubing is individually attached to each of the condensers. There are dozens of tubes to deal with, and multiple heating mantles to monitor. The problem with this arrangement is that in the end, you have spent more time assembling and monitoring your apparatuses than performing the actual chemistry.

The ROT-X-TRACT product lines eliminate chaos and wasted time by allowing for up to 8, or 10 extractions to be performed simultaneously in a single bath with a single water manifold.

To conserve valuable bench space, all samples are arranged in a circle and the instrument rotates allowing each sample to be accessed from the front. Individual condensers are connected to the centrally located water manifold through quick disconnect fittings. The water supply and drain manifolds have one water supply line in, one drain line out, allowing the instrument to rotate freely without tangling the tubing.

Soxhlet Extraction Instrument - ROT-X-TRACT-S

Soxhlet extraction is ideal for extracting soluble analytes from a solid sample into an organic solvent. Unlike traditional wire or sand baths which are used to heat receiving flasks, the ROT-X-TRACT-S uses a water steam bath which provides gentle even heat to delicate samples.

The ROT-X-TRACT-S rotary Soxhlet extractor can accommodate up to 8 or 10 Soxhlet extractors. The bath cover disc holes can accommodate round sample flasks from 125 ml-1 L. A wide range of sample sizes and quantities make this instrument ideal for Soxhlet extraction of samples in any lab.

Liquid-Liquid Solvent Extractor - ROT-X-TRACT-L

The ROT-X-TRACT-L rotary liquid-liquid extractor allows for up to 8 liquid-liquid extractions to be performed at once. The instrument was designed to simplify extractions using a traditional liquid-liquid extraction apparatus or the Hershberg-Wolfe extraction apparatus.

Traditional configurations of these extractors employ 250 ml boiling flasks, an Allihns condenser and 1 liter extractor bodies. These highly efficient instruments provide continuous solvent extraction and use a large diameter return tube to minimize any chance of clogging.

The extractor hardware can also accommodate Hershberg-Wolfe (H-W) glassware and frits for more accurate extraction of samples. The H-W extractor body assembly increases the amount of time the solvent is in contact with the sample promoting a more accurate extraction of analytes. Both the traditional and H-W extractors come with a remote power and water control box. The control box provides a safety feature for unattended operation, automatically shutting off heat and water to the extractor when water flow from the return line diminishes.

All extractors are engineered using a circular design for easy insertion and retrieval of samples. Please contact us for any specific questions about these instruments.
