Carbonates

Carbonate rocks comprise between 10 percent and 15 percent of sedimentary rocks and are primarily comprised of two distinct types—limestones and dolostones. Limestones are primarily composed of calcite while dolostones are primarily comprised of dolomite. Due to the fact that carbonate materials are typically soluble in waters with a slight acidic level, carbonates typically present high permeability and porosity. Consequently, carbonates are ideal petroleum reservoirs.

As the world continues to search for more economically feasible methods for increased oil production, advanced reservoir stimulation techniques, including fracturing fluids, have continued to evolve. At Korcurek Industries, we provide a variety of laboratory tests to evaluate the sensitivity of conductivity and fracturing cores to a variety of different fluids. Sandstone

Kocurek Industries provides a variety of core sample research services for various types of rock formations, including sandstone. Sandstone is considered a classic sedimentary rock primarily comprised of rock grains or sand-sized minerals. Developing a comprehensive understanding of the various properties of sandstone is essential in determining rock-fluid interactions. The petroleum industry makes use of a variety of different types of sandstone rocks for standard porous laboratory experiments. The data that is obtained from such tests can then be compared to similar experimental data conducted through the use of reservoir cores. Three of the most commonly used rock standards include Baker dolomite, Berea sandstone, and Indiana limestone.
